History and development
Westfield Carousel was built in 1972, and originally contained 58 shops, a hotel, two takeaway food shops, as well as Woolworths supermarket, Boans (later acquired by Myer), Aherns (later acquired by David Jones) and Walsh's.

Redevelopments
From 1998 to 1999, the centre was extensively redeveloped and its gross lettable area was expanded to about twice its original size. One of the major drawcards added to the centre during this redevelopment was an entertainment precinct known as The Street, open 24 hours a day. This precinct features a number of entertainment stores, book stores, cafes and a Hoyts Cinema.

Transport
The centre is located approximately 600 metres walking distance from the Cannington Interchange. Multiple bus services connect to the shopping centre from the interchange, as well as additional bus services running to and from the city along Albany Highway.
