Weserstadion
Weserstadion is a multi-purpose stadium in Bremen, Germany. The stadium is scenically situated on the north bank of the Weser River and is surrounded by lush green parks (the name 'Werder' is a regional German word for “river peninsula”). The city center is only about a kilometer away. It is currently used mostly for football matches. It is the home stadium of local football team Werder Bremen. Michael Jackson performed at the stadium during his Dangerous World Tour on August 8, 1992 & during his HIStory World Tour on May 31 & June 6, 1997. The Rolling Stones performed at the stadium during their Bridges To Babylon Tour on September 2, 1998. It presented a bid to be a host city in the 2006 FIFA World Cup which was ultimately turned down. Its current modifications are for the most part controlled by Hauke Wilkens.
