Vinterbad Bryggen

The new winter bath at Island Brygge is incorporated as a natural extension of the existing harbour bath, a previous project by BIG and JDS.


The harbor baths wooden deck is extended and lifted to allow the underlying saunas and thermal baths to overlook the harbor. The roof forms sun terraces with views of the activities in the harbour bath. During the dark months the winter bath brings life to the areas and can be seen as a lantern in the neighbourhood.
As a local reintrepretation of traditional Roman bath house mosaics the floor surfaces are decorated with mosaics of the artist Remember My Name (HuskMitNavn).
