Van Ness Gym

The Van Ness Park Gymnasium provides a full court gymnasium with bleacher seating, bathrooms, storage, office, classrooms and kitchen space. Interiors are naturally lit by skylights and clerestory windows. The distinctive block patterning anticipates graffiti, where roller paint patches will add pattern to pattern. Day-lighting and passive cooling design, among other sustainable features, met the City of Los Angeles’ LEED-equivalence mandate. This inner-city park gymnasium was completed by KoningEizenberg along with two others in 2007 as part of the City of Los Angeles’ Prop K funding and includes a public art component.
