Unity, Liverpool

The £52.6 million Unity building is a mixed use scheme with 15,000sqm of office accommodation, shops and 161 residential units situated to the north of the iconic Liver Building with spectacular views of the Mersey and the Wirrall beyond. The two towers of the Unity building serve as powerful complements to the waterfront silhouette of the famous Merseyside buildings, the Three Graces. The towers have now become symbols of the city’s renaissance as 2008 European City of Culture – not least because this development contains the first new-build office accommodation in Liverpool for 30 years.


The project came to AHMM after planning consent had been granted on the site for a scheme designed by another architect. AHMM developed a new proposal to increase density and create a design that was more distinctive within the
