Syracuse University School of Architecture, New York by Garrison Architects
Garrison Architects have recently rennovated this architecture school. The skylight above the atrium provides natural ventilation and daylight to the building. Years of accumulated modifications were removed to create and re-create space. The design integrates original with new elements, and brings light, air, and sense of spatial orientation to each floor of the building. The atrium bench provides seating for a public pin-up area and conceals the rolling fire-shutter within. The panel perforations and facets optimize the auditorium acoustics. Low-level ambient lighting and the path-of-travel lighting are combined.
