Stony Point railway station, MelbourneEdit profile
Stony Point is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Crib Point, and is the terminus of the Stony Point railway line. Stony Point is unmanned and is in Metcard Zone 2.
Stony Point is located at the end of the Stony Point Road, which provides station access.
The station consists of one side platform, with a weatherboard building and a small open waiting area. Like all stations on the Stony Point line, the station contains no Metcard machine or validators, with passengers requiring to pre-purchase tickets and validate them on arrival at Frankston. A runaround loop is provided beside the platform to permit locomotive hauled trains to change ends, which was made redundant with the start of Sprinter operations on the line on 27 April 2008.
A jetty is located near the station, where ferry services operate to Tankerton on French Island and Cowes on Phillip Island. Located near the station is the naval base HMAS Cerberus.
