THE CHALLENGE TO TURN A SMALL DISUSED ONECAR GARAGE TO A 2BED ( 100M2) HOUSE ON AN AWKWARD 70M2 L SHAPED PLOT WITH RESTRICTED ACCESS AND PARTY WALL DIFFICULTIES ON 2 SIDES . THE BUILDING FORMS A PARTYWALL ON ONE SIDE AND NEEDS UNDERPINING ON THE OTHER - I CHOSE TO BUILD IN A LIGHTWEIGHT MANER WITH SANDWICH PANELS - THIS WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE BECAUSE OF THE REDUCED WEIGHT OF THE BUILD AND ALSO THE POSSIBILITY TO ACCESS AND INSTALL THE PANELS - THIS ALSO AVOIDED ANY FORM OF UNDER PINNING AND ALLOWED THE BUILDING ALLOWED THE BUILDING TO HUG THE EXISTING ADJOINING TERRACE HOUSES COMFORTABLY . BECAUSE OF THE HIGH DENSITY NATURE OF THE STREET WHICH COMPELLED THE NEED TO CONSTRUCT QUICKLY TO AVOID LENGTHY DISRUPTION OF THE AREA NORMAL ACTIVITY , THE SIP TECHNOLGY HELPED TO SPEED UP CONSTRUCTION - BUILDTIME WAS REDUCED TO 4MONTHS AND ALSO THE SIP TECHNOLOGY ALLOWED THE CREATION OF UNINTERRUPTED OPEN PLAN SPACES WHICH MADE THE 2 BED UPSTAIRS POSSIBLE AND THE GRAND OPEN PLAN OF THE GROUND FLOOR ALSO POSSIBLE - THE USE OF BI FOLDING DOORS AND DORMER WINDOWS ALSO HELPED PSYCHOLOGICALY OPEN UP THE INTERNAL PACE- THE BUILDING PANELS WERE CLAD IN SLIP BRICKS OF THE SAME TYPE USED ALONG THE STREET - THIS GAVE THE BUILDING THE FEEL AND LOOK OF A BRICK BUILDING WITHOUT ANY DOUBT . COUPLING THE LOW ENERGY LIGHTS USED THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING WITH THE HIGH INSULATION VALUES OF THE SIP SYSTEMS , THE BUILDING GAINED VERY HIGH ENERGY RATING
