St Bride’s Kirk East KilbrideEdit profile
We have been commissioned by the Diocese of Motherwell to prepare refurbishment and restoration proposals for Grade ‘A’ listed Gillespie Kidd & Coia R.C. Church St. Bride’s, in East Kilbride. This Scottish interpretation of the brutalist style of 1960’s architecture is one of the finest buildings to be produced by one of the most influential Scottish practice of the era. The embellished red brick box conceals an atmospheric church naturally illuminated by subtle architectural devices, which facilitate the delicate transmission of light throughout this spectacular space.
We will work closely with both the diocese and Historic Scotland to set out a practical strategy for phasing the urgent repairs, programming the restoration and modernisation of this important landmark. These works will provide the parish with a fit for purpose church and safeguard this community asset for future generations.
