Southcentre Mall
Southcentre Mall is one of the largest (by area) malls in Calgary, Alberta, 97,743.9 m 2 (1,052,106.6 sq ft). It is located in the City's southeast quadrant at the intersection of Macleod Trail and Anderson Road, and across the street from the Anderson C-Train Station, in the neighborhood of Willow Park. The mall is owned and operated by Ivanhoe Cambridge. First opened in 1974, the mall underwent its first major expansion in 1986, when a Famous Players movie theater, the Southcentre 7 and a Moxie's restaurant were built at the south end of the mall. In 1988, an expansion of the north side of the mall added even more stores. The Southcentre 7 movie theater was closed in 1999, after the Famous Players coliseum opened in Shawnessy in 1998. An Indigo Book store was opened there in 2001. In late 1999, construction began on an all-new, three-level Eaton's department store. During construction, however, the company was dissolved and the store was opened as Sears. A two-level parkade was also built. In the early 2000s, the Moxies was closed, renovated and reopened as Chili's. Soon after, a Milestone's restaurant opened next to the Chili's. The mall also contains a food court and parking structure, and covers two complete floors in a 'racetrack' layout.

Future Expansion
The mall has begun expansion, which is taking place in the eastern portion of the mall. Many new American stores are expected to open in the near future. Restoration Hardware has opened its first Alberta location, on December 3, 2008, in Southcentre. The new food court on the eastern side of the mall is now open and the old food court has been redeveloped to accommodate Alberta's first Crate and Barrel store.
