Ruta Del Peregrino: Look Out Point

Elemental was invited to design The Look Out Point for the “Ruta del Peregrino”.

La Ruta del Peregrino (Pilgrim's Route) is approximately 117 kilometers. Over two million people come every year from different states of Mexico to walk through the mountain range of Jalisco, starting in the town of Ameca with a final destination in the town of Talpa de Allende to see the Rosario Virgin as an act of devotion, faith and purification. This annual pilgrimage tour is mostly done during the Holy Week by people from all walks of life. This religious tourist trip has been carried out for years without any recognition or support from the government until recently. With the help of an international team of architects and designers to design the different parts of the project, the government of Jalisco has supported the implementation of infrastructure for the pilgrims like basic services, shelters, viewpoints and sanctuaries to make the route more permanent, and help to create a source of economic income for people living along the road.
