Design Museum Holon

I’m Opened in 2010, the Design Museum Holon is the most important museum and cultural hub in Israel exclusively dedicated to design.

Building
The museum, which building was designed by renowned Israeli architect Ron Arad (b. 1951), is part of a long-term project aimed to develop the city of Holon into a cultural center of international importance.

The home of the museum is a fluid structure, mostly made in reinforced concrete and encompassing a total gross floor area of 40,000 square feet, which appearance is marked by six large ribbons made in Cor-Ten steel.
The building accommodates a 5,400-square-foot exhibition hall for large objects and installations, a more intimate 2,700-square-foot gallery, an array of smaller temporary exhibition spaces, a library, a material library, an auditorium, a cinematheque, workshop spaces, a design lab, a museum store, and a cafeteria. The main gallery is naturally lit through a semi-transparent roof equipped with an ingenious sunlight moderating system.
