River Mill Park
The River Mill Park regeneration scheme forms part of Lewisham’s Urban Renaissance Scheme, and provides 211 new homes in south London. bptw partnership has acted as lead designer and masterplanner for the two-phase redevelopment of the former Sundermead Estate. Sustainability has been a key focus of the redevelopment of the estate. Energy-efficiency in the form of robust materials, building orientation, heating and noise prevention measures has ensured effective long-term management of the properties. The naturalisation of the river has provided a hospitable habitat for local wildlife and Home Zone principles have been incorporated into the street plan, which includes new cycle paths. All homes are built to Lifetime Standards – with a number specifically designed for wheelchair use.
