Prince Sultan University
Overview of the Project: The Design of The Prince Sultan University, consists of one project for two campuses; Male and Female plus Common Plaza facilities to interact with the community in between. The University is located in historical city of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, comprising of site area of 350,000 m2, built up area of 156,000 m2, and the number of colleges is 10. It has capacity of covering 9000 students (male 4500, female 4500) Its Architectural Design made to create an inspiring environment for the students, hence teaching them not to be just responsive but also to encourage them to be socially interacting with the learning environment in informal ways i.e. in the corridors, open spaces, meeting areas, cafeteria within positive learning spaces. Interacting with the community by donating all common facilities to be accessible for people and giving opportunities to open a common dialog between masses visiting the University and the students, which in return will open subjects to be studied from real life searching for solutions. Sustainability not just limited to saving, protecting the environment and green architecture but as a culture and daily-life practices in all aspects starting with the building construction and later in attitude of academic faculty and students. As it appears in the attached pictures, there is an abstract relation between the Urban, Architectural spirit and the cultural buildings in the historical Riyadh City which distinguish Prince Sultan University from other Universities not only in Riyadh alone but also within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
