Park Hyatt NYCEdit profile
What shall become the highest residential tower of North America, was a design challenge, as the target was to create a landmark that should above all not look like the consequence of an oddly "L" shaped lot configuration.
The response is a geometry comprised of forms following both zoning regulations and structural imperatives which generate a cascade effect on the south facade. The resulting shape is an intensification of the verticality of the structure that plays with the "L" shaped plan in an appropriate silhouette.
A vertical pattern of stripes comprised of two different glass types (with uniform visibility from the interior) distinguish both north and south facades and evoke the energetic casacade of New York's verticality. In contrast the East and West shifting facades simulate a random "Klimt - like" pattern that shall fluctuate with the constantly changing light exposure.
