Ontario Residence

Ontario Residence, Singapore by Ministry of Design

Ministry of Design has just completed work on this modern bungalow in Singapore. The site is based around one horizontal block and one vertical block, the spacious living areas are enhanced by the natural lighting from above. The architect comments: ‘The car porch is incorporated seamlessly into the language of the overall building . The porch caps the property with its overhanging hood.’ The main public spaces are turned inwards giving a sense of  tranquility from the outside world. A tower houses the master wing, which is kept cool by cross breezes. Trees planted around the outside create a cooling shade as well as adding greenery to the new age bungalow. This highlights the simple geometry of the house, and gives a good view of the inside of the vast windows which let in the natural light during the daytime.
