Northbrook Court
Northbrook Court is a large, upscale Super-regional Mall in Northbrook, Illinois. The mall is one of the most upscale collection of shops in the midwest, and even the nation. Located on 130 acres (0.53 km 2) its three current anchor stores are Lord & Taylor, Macy's, and Neiman Marcus. There is also a 14-screen AMC Theatres on the south side of the mall, as well as a free standing Crate & Barrel home store in the northwest corner of the property. It is located on Lake Cook Road, between the Tri-State Tollway and Edens Expressway and is managed and co-owned by General Growth Properties

Opened in 1976, Northbrook Court was originally anchored by Neiman Marcus, I. Magnin, Lord & Taylor and Sears (as the mall had been developed by a Sears subsidiary, Homart Development). Sears closed in the 1980s and was replaced by JCPenney, while I. Magnin closed in 1992 and was demolished for the construction of a General Cinema multiplex theater. JCPenney in its turn closed in 1992 and was razed, and in its place was built Marshall Field's, which opened in 1995. In 1998 General Growth Properties acquired the mall in a private transaction from the Grosvenor Group, contributing it in 1999 to a 50/50 joint venture with the New York State Common Retirement Fund (NYSCRF), while retaining management. The General Cinema was acquired by AMC Theatres in 2001, while outside the mall, a freestanding Crate & Barrel home furnishings store was opened in 2002. Today, Northbrook Court is home to more than 110 upscale retailers. The 1985 movie Weird Science contained a scene that took place at the mall in which a red Icee was poured on Gary and Wyatt from one floor above them. Also, scenes from the 1980 movie Ordinary People filmed on the escalators, the women's clothing section, and the Zodiac restaurant at Neiman-Marcus, showing Mary Tyler Moore's character, Beth, and Donald Sutherland's character Calvin,in their public personae.
