Mouchtouris Residence
Positioned on a plot of about 2500m2 the Mouchtouris residence is located at a wonderful site in the peninsula of Halkidiki. According to the client's demands, the building develops in one level, whereas part of it lies above the ground, allowing the basement's natural lightning. The architectural concept was the creation of simple geometrical forms, following the inner functional organization, thus creating a unified entity. The chosen materials - natural stone and volumes in white color - provide a visual continuity with the environment, due to their local characteristics and their response to the flourishing Greek sun. Designed to accommodate the needs of a quadrupled family, this 180m2 residence, is organized around an imaginable cross section of movements. At its middle point the resident has a clear perception of the whole structure and a visual clarity towards the exit points. The plan clearly divides the structure into two main spaces according their function - private and communal. The private part consists of the master bedroom, two additional bedrooms for the children, a casual family room and the service areas (bathroom, laundry). All these are carefully positioned at the south part of the structure to achieve maximum weather protection and sun light. At the north-east side of the building we find a spacious living room with a fire place, the kitchen and dinning room. Whereas the north side of the building is characterized by small and narrow windows, the south-east side has large openings and the possibility of integrating the interior spaces with a sheltered terrace and balconies.
