Matisse Court, LondonEdit profile
This is a radical refurbishment of a 1960’s office building to create 28 high quality apartments and ground floor office space on the northern edge of the City of London. The original concrete-framed building was stripped back to its shell and with the addition of a new double-height fifth floor, new cladding and glazing, new services, lift and an underground car park a dramatic regeneration was achieved. Spacious balconies to all apartments give views on to Bunhill Fields – one of the City’s ancient burial grounds and the last resting place of Daniel Defoe, amongst others. A new garden has been created on an adjoining site as part of the scheme’s contribution to the local community.
