LOA container Grand Stand Project

A shipping container project for The 2009 and 2010 Voodoo Music and Art Festival in New Orleans.LA.

Instead of building a grand stand from traditional scaffolding and squared tent structures on top, Stefan Beese of RE:BE Design used six 40’ long shipping containers to create a large viewing deck and a lounge area with concession stand in the bottom of the structure. The two top containers cantilevered nine feet on each side, housing two bars and balconies to have a prime elevated viewing platform for performers such as KISS, Lenny Kravitz and Silversum Pickups in 2009. The containers where perforated with cut outs spelling VOODOO to create different view points and service area openings. The containers are being reused in same or different layout each year and provide storage space during the year until the next installation.

In 2010 the Container structure was improved by an 10 feet ADA lift instead of ramps that where leading up to the top deck. Festival visitors where able to enjoy performances such as Ozzy Osborne, Muse and My Morning Jacket from the 10 feet elevated deck and cantilevered balconies.
