Limehouse Lock is a complex constrained site with the Grade I Listed DLR Viaduct to the south, the Grand Union Canal to the west, Listed Georgian Houses to the east and the busy Commercial Road to the north. There is a full storey height change of level across the site and complex sunlight / daylight, noise / vibration, air quality and heritage issues resolved by this sensitive architectural response.
The consent delivers two levels of commercial use to define the public realm and 33 apartments with a wide mix that is tenure blind.
The contemporary design uses an architectural language and innovative materials policy to complete this urban context.
