Liberty Hotel

The Liberty Hotel: A Careful Balance between Preservation and a Dynamic New Use Through restoration, reuse, and reinvention, the abandoned Charles Street Jail was transformed by developer Carpenter & Company and architect Cambridge Seven Associates of Cambridge, MA into a new four-star luxury hotel overlooking the Charles River in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood. This historically significant and storied structure has been reborn as a vital commercial development featuring 298 guest rooms, a conference facility, ballroom, health club, lounge, restaurants, and high-end guest amenities. The Liberty Hotel opened in September 2007. Genesis of the Jail The focal point of The Liberty Hotel is the restored Charles Street Jail.
