Les Echelles de la Ville

A shopping centre with a blind wall had long marked the Montpellier city limit, now ruptured by the raw energy of Les Echelles, opening the way to the new Antigone district. This six-storey office building serves a crucial town-planning purpose in the Antigone project as it links the new development to the historical city centre by escalating the level change with a monumental double staircase leading up to the terrace, on the same level as the historical Place de la Comédie. The central doorway provides access to the lifts and  shopping centre.
