Khadakvasla House

Located in Khadakvasla, near Pune, the house rests on the leeward side of the Western Ghats. The densely wooded area the site sits in made it the perfect place to try and capture a piece of the jungle within the home. Rooms were strung around a potion of the green to create a home woven into the landscape; the courtyard allowing for a private dip in the lush vegetation.
The verandah, with its timber lattice, sets a backdrop that negotiates the area between the enclosures and the central courtyard. This transitional space of dappled shade promotes a lifestyle in close connection with nature.
The living room, a counterpoint in the house, is a tall glass box that will pulse with the flickering of the fireplace on cold evenings; and frame the changing hues of the sky as the sun sets.
