House in Groningen

Bahama Architects have completed a house in Groningen, The Netherlands, that features wall sculptures by the artist Tanja Isbarn.

The house is orthogonal and has and has strictly organized plans. All spaces are in white. The aesthetic concept of the perforated facade in the 'Art am Bau' project comes from the fossilized coral mass: the basic substance of the island of Bonaire.

Perforated walls

The two concrete walls oriented towards the public space are perforated with organic patterns. The diagonal incisions of the holes let the day light into the interior of the three floors of the house in numerous surprising ways. At any point of the day a changing light / shadow situation can be observed.
