Honor Oak Park railway station

Edit profile
Honor Oak Park railway station
Honor Oak Park is a London railway station, serving the suburban area of Honor Oak in the London Borough of Lewisham. It is located in Travelcard Zone 3, between Brockley and Forest Hill. The line on which it stands was opened in 1839, but this station was only opened by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway on 1 April 1886. There are four tracks through the station, with platforms on the outer Slow lines. These platforms connect the booking office (see illustration) by means of an overbridge. The station benefitted from the London Overground (formally known as East London Line) extension in May 2010 which has led to it being on one of the most connected lines in South East London with direct trains to Whitechapel (19mins), Shoreditch(23mins), Canada Water (10mins), London Victoria and London Bridge (11mins). Commuter areas such as Canary Wharf, Liverpool Street, Kings Cross and Waterloo are all within one line change away. From 2018 this line will also benefit from the Thameslink Project ( http://www.thameslinkprogramme.co.uk/cms/pages/view/30) which will introduce direct trains from Honor Oak Park through London Bridge and on to Hertfordshire via Kings Cross. This will enable most of London to be accessible in a relatively short time compared to now. This will also coincide with Crossrail being implemented at Whitechapel ensuring that East to West as well as South to North will be easily accessible from Honor Oak Park.
