Highbury Grove School

The first school in Islington’s Building Schools for the Future programme opened in January 2010 to 1,050 pupils. Highbury Grove is a new comprehensive school specialising in business enterprise, with a sixth form for 300 students. It has a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’. The design wraps the teaching faculties around a new garden and external learning space, with an internal covered street creating a social route through the building, with resource and support set alongside. It is co-located with Samuel Rhodes, a special educational needs school for 60 students, which opened in September 2009.
