Hayah International Academy
Intro Our work on this project is divided into three phases: the first phase is KG and the admin building, it was realized in 2003. The second one is the elementary school realized in 2005. The third phase is the middle and high schools, sports hall, main playground and swimming pools realized in 2009. Mission Establishing a high standard learning environment that graduates physically, mentally, and spiritually well prepared individuals Paradigm This school tries to provide an answer to the ongoing debate in the educational arena about: single sex or mixed schools? Within this school we have adopted a balanced approach. On the one hand, the KG and elementary schools are mixed with their different facilities. On the other, we tried to respect every sex's privacy in the teenage through providing a single sex middle and high school. However, there are common areas that educationally serve both parts. Design Philosophy The main concept is based on the idea of evolution and growth. Accordingly every part in the school represents a phase of this evolutionary process where the starting point is the KG till it reaches its end at the high school. However, this hierarchy is not only respected on the level of buildings distribution but also it's respected on the level of the areas of classes in the different schools, heights, playgrounds and even openings. Geometry It was important to applying an order that meets the demand of growth, creativity and flexibility. Accordingly, the best shape that fit this idea is the volute.
