The project consisted of a new 55,000 square foot stand-alone, outpatient, comprehensive cancer care center for a highly respected community hospital in central Maine.
The facility was designed with patient choice and convenience in mind. The client and design team sought to re-imagine cancer care providing an environment that was informed by hospitality and retail settings that are often more responsive to the needs of customers than are health care facilities.
Organized along a circulation spine, the building features two distinct clusters in front and a clinical pod in back. To provide seamless integration of all patient services, the primary entrance is located at the middle of three levels, with the lower, or “terrace
