Hannibal RoadEdit profile
Hannibal Road Gardens is a newly landscaped and densely planted community garden and a delightful new terrace of 8 contemporary large family houses built against the western site boundary, creating a fourth side to a square surrounded by 3 existing housing blocks. The new row of houses is conceived as a continuation of the timber garden fences of the existing housing blocks, being constructed from timber and configured as a series of stepped and notched south east facing garden terraces. The buildings have an intimate scale being between one and three storeys high set back well away from the existing dwellings. The brief was to create large family homes to address over-crowding problems within the flats on the existing estate. The proposed dwellings are 3, 4, 6, and 7 bedroom homes. Each house is reached through a small front courtyard garden leading through fully glazed screens to large and airy living spaces. Bedrooms are located at first and second floor levels where they again have large glazed screens leading onto sunny roof terraces which in turn have beautiful views over the community garden. Public space is well overlooked ensuring security and safety.
