Fladangskolan Elementary SchoolEdit profile
Scandinavian architects, Link Arkitektur, have designed an elementary/intermediate school for 240 children in 12 classes, ages 6-12, after the metaphor of a crocodile that has crawled up from the canal to settle in the park of the growing town of Lomma, Sweden. The main L-shaped building has two floors overlooking the canal to the west, and neighbouring park to the north. It is divided into 12 parts for the classrooms. The west wing houses special rooms for needlework, woodwork, visual arts and dining. The white concrete mass is completed with irregular joints in the facade, which mimic swaying reeds in the nearby stream, and seedum rooftops. Bright splashes of primary color accent intermediary spaces help students orient themselves.
