Envision Energy Headquarters

Envision Energy, a leading Chinese wind-turbine manufacturer backed by a European clean-energy fund, commissioned AECOM to design its new 32,000-square-foot, three-story headquarters in Jiangyin, China.

The design, which provides for a temporary headquarters while a larger building is developed, visually links the multi-purpose office building with Envision’s core business line – the development, manufacturing, sales and maintenance of advanced technology wind turbines.

Taking the concept of wind, energy and movement as its organizing principle, the headquarters’ metallic exterior is sheared in two, with both sections flowing around the central, airfoil-shaped “Envision Eye.” The Eye links the headquarters (which houses Envision’s design engineers and executive directors) with the factory building where the wind turbine rotors are assembled.

AECOM’s design also provides public display and educational facilities to inform Envision's customers of the benefits of renewable energy, as well as housing dining facilities, a sport and fitness center, and an employee "Spirit Lounge” designed to promote collaboration and social interaction among the designers responsible for developing future wind technology.
