Their headquarters in Als – a small island in the southern part of Denmark – has undergone a major façade renovation as well as a refurbishment and extension of both reception and the executive- and board facilities. The façade has been re-clad with granite and new windows have been installed. The two uppermost floors have been refurbished and fitted with new executive and board facilities. The new reception building is designed as a granite-faced freestanding ‘buck’ beneath which a glazed rectangular and a circular volume are placed. Here is the main entrance, foyer, cinema and an outdoor mirror pool. As an arrival point, the reception building is given emphasis by an elliptical canopy constructed from a composite plastic material – a material that recurs in the organically looping futuristic reception counter: a sculptural counter that unites aesthetics and functionality. In the refurbished interior, the design includes transparent glazed walls broken by wooden boxes that function as shelving systems. Elsewhere, integrated into the walls, are rectangular glass cases in which selected products are displayed.
