Conseil Général des Côtes d'ArmorEdit profile
The featured project meets the requirements set by the Conseil Général of the Côtes d’Armor, that wanted a buiding as a landmark in the city of Saint-Brieuc and bringing out strongly the presence of this institution in the very heart of the city, juste as the Préfecture which lies on the same location. Meant to be connected to the Préfecture to create a circulation path between the main meeting room and the new offices, this building must also compromise with the site’s high constraints (distance between building and area limit, closeness of other buildings, listed wooded area narby, and so on). This lead us to create an architectural solution that asserts the position of the building and handles carefully the open areas (patios, planted terraces, open outlook to the city through oriented openings, etc.). This six floor building contains mainly offices, meeting rooms, and circulation paths - all lightened by natural daylight -, along with archive rooms and one parking lot. The Préfecture’s main meeting room - carefully refurbished as part of this project - can be accessed directly form the third and fourth floors, through footbridges looking out to the city and park. A special attention has been paid to the hall (se on a glassy ground-floor), meeting rooms and amphitheatre, so as to offer high-quality representation areas. Site complexity, compact look of the building, importance of open areas, mixing of new and old structures, working and representation areas, all these efatures make this building a very specific project that can be read in many ways.
