Brixton Station Train Crew AccomodationEdit profile
Child Graddon Lewis has completed a scheme for high quality train and station staff facilities above the tube station at Brixton in South London. Improvements to the line and increased numbers of trains due to come into service on the Victoria line require the employment of additional staff and the new building is intended to provide for all their needs as well as improved facilities for the existing station staff. The development, comprising a fit out of existing space, also includes two floors of new build accommodation dovetailed into this very tight urban site. Marked as the ‘greenest’ of TfL’s buildings of this type, Child Graddon Lewis designed the new development to take advantage of the building’s aspect and location in incorporating solar thermal panels to supply hot water, a green roof to soften visual impact for adjacent neighbours and conserve water, as well as rainwater harvesting and increased thermal performance to save energy.
