Boustred House
Edit profile
Nestled into a north-facing cliff in Mosman, Australia, the 'Boustred House' by Australian practice Ian Moore Architects overlooks Sydney's middle harbour towards the Spit Bridge and Clontarf. The front door is accessed from the street by a pedestrian bridge leading into the second floor. Inside, inhabitants find themselves at the top of a stairway which descends the site to link each of the three storeys. The length is illuminated with a strip of glass skylights, serving to also divide the home into two massings. A series of northern volumes contain the living areas and bedrooms while the bathrooms, study and service areas are pushed along the southern boundary into a smaller, enclosed block.
