Arsenal Music Center

The Architect intends to make a hall where music sounds like in the classical period. The challenge consisted of transforming a military arsenal into the seat of the National Orchestra of Lorraine. The building was refurbished to accommodate a rehearsal room, a chamber music hall, a restaurant, an exhibition hall, administrative offices, and an auditorium for one thousand five hundred; set twelve metres below street level. This enables a public plaza on the upper level of the auditorium. Maestro Rostropovich recorded some of his favourite 17th and 18th century music in this hall.
