Amsterdam 191
A M S T E R D A M 1 9 1 IN 2007 THE BUILDING AT “AMSTERDAM 191" REPRESENTS AN ALTERNATIVE DIRECTIONS IN THE DEVELOPMENT, ONE IN WICH COMPOSITIONAL ELEMENTS SUCH AS ORDER AND S IMPLE READING OF THE WHOLE ARE SET ASIDE. IF THERE WERE PRIMARY COLORS ON THE FACADE IT WOULD RESEMBLE A PAINTINNG BY MONDRIAN, IN WHICH THE MOODULATION OF THE EXPOSED CONCR ETE, FLUCH WITH TE WINDOWS, GENERATES A COMBINATION OF RECESSED AND PROJECTING VOLUMES. THIS BUILDING IS LOCATED IN ONE OF MEXICO`S CITY DOWNTOWN AREAS KNOWN AS “LA COLONIA CONDESA`, WHICH IS SURROUNDED BY A LARGE PUBLIC PARK CALLED “PARQUE MÉXICO` THE MAIN IDEA OF THIS PROJECT IS TO CAPTURE AN EDUARDO CHILLIDA SCULPTURE AND TAKE IT TO A SCALE WHERE IT CAN BE HABITABLE. THE PARQUE MÉXICO IS INTRODUCED THROUGHOUT THE INTERIOR OF THE BUILDING BY REMOVING AND MOLDIN THE MASS CREATING DIFFERENT APARTMENT MODULES THUS DIFFE RENT SENSATIONS. THE BUILDING CONTAINS 54 APARTMENTS. THE ROOFTOP AMENITI, IS ADDRESSED TO PLAY MORE THAN ONE ROLE, FUNCTIONING AS A RECREATIONAL SPACE AND AS A TERRACE, WHE RE IT IS POSSIBLE TO LIVE THE CITY FROM THE HEIGHTS. THE VEGETATION ALONG AMSTERDAM HELPS TO EXTEND THE ENTRY, THE LENGTH OF THE STREETFRONT, MAKIN POSSIB LE A SEVENTH APARMENT ON THE GROUND FLOOR AND OPENINIG UP INTERIOR PATIOS FOR EACH UNIT. N EITHER PLANS NOR ELEVATION ARE MODULATED OR GOVERNED BY THE BUILDING'S HORIZONTAL AXES, AN IMPRACTICAL SOLUTION WHICH WOULD HAVE ENTAILED A WASTE OF SPACE.
