The 2,688sqm building, located just 50 metres from the practice’s London office, will provide high quality retail accommodation at basement, ground and first floor levels with 4 levels of modern office accommodation above. Michael Hickey, Divisional Director of 3DReid in London said: “ Oxford Street is one of London’s most popular shopping destinations and as such, required a high quality building proposal. 3DReid carried out a thorough site analysis prior to creating a proposal that is both distinctively modern, as well as sympathetic to the existing terrace in which it is located. The proposal successfully integrates the very different uses of retail, with large areas of glazing at the lower levels and the office accommodation above into a single coherent architecture that will contribute positively to the streetscape of Oxford Street.’ The practice has also been appointed as BREEAM Assessor on the scheme that will achieve a ‘Very Good’ rating. A linear atrium will provide a dramatic entrance to the offices directly off Oxford Street as well as allowing the maximum amount of natural light into the building. The flat roof has been specified as a brown roof and will include bird and bat boxes.
