107 Cheapside, dating from the 1950s, is one of Cheapside’s prime constituents. John Robertson Architects’ aim in remodelling the building for The Carlyle Group is to build upon its intrinsic qualities to realise the building’s full commercial potential. At ground level, that means new, larger and more efficient retail units. At the rear an extension reinstates the original street line; and at top level a new premium rental “sky storey” is added, bringing the total increase in space from 120,000 to 156,000sqft.
