Welcome to our new blog! We started OpenBuildings almost a year ago now (!!!) with the ambition to democratize the built environment by making information about buildings, throughout their lifecycle, open and transparent. Architecture plays a major role in our societies by providing happiness, pride and defining our villages, towns and cities - yet the construction industry is closed, ancient and slow to adapt. I think this has to change - and we'd like to be a big driver of that process. We're going to be building tools to educate enthusiasts about good architecture, to involve and inform local communities about buildings around them and to empower architects & construction industry professionals to find new business.

With that mindset, we decided to create this blog where our team and I will be giving you a personal view about architecture, localism, disruption, business and technology in our industry. We're going to write about the latest happenings, interesting buildings, current topics and lots more. We'll run competitions, interview leading thinkers and share extraordinary places to visit. I hope that you'll all be a part of it and support us in our journey to revolutionise architecture and the construction industry. Enjoy!

I like the retro picture of the modern architecture very much! It makes me think of the people centuries ahead who will browse through today's architecture in OpenBuildings.com :)
